Methyl salicylate (Methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate), also known as wintergreen oil, is a colorless or light yellow transparent viscous liquid, with a strong sweet, fruity odor. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, acetic acid, and other common organic solvents. It can change color when exposed to air.
Industrial Grade Methyl Salicylate is used as an odor-masking agent, insect repellent, fungicide, cosmetic ink, and fiber dying additive.
Premium Grade Methyl Salicylate is used as a fragrance or essence in toothpaste, chewing gum, mouth wash and various flavor agent.
